Kayla is a California native who returned to the Bay Area to join Barr & Douds Attorneys after a distinguished academic career in South Carolina. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara, majoring in Philosophy with an emphasis in Public Policy and Ethics — a background that deeply informs her approach to legal counsel.

Kayla earned her Juris Doctor summa cum laude from the Charleston School of Law. During her studies, she served as the Senior Research Editor of the Charleston Law Review, where she oversaw complex editorial projects and had her own scholarly work selected for publication. She also represented her school nationally as a member of the Transactional Law Team at Duke University School of Law.

Prior to joining the firm, Kayla gained valuable experience across multiple facets of the law, including trust and estate research, civil litigation, and corporate legal operations at Samsung Electronics Home Appliances America.

Kayla is motivated by a commitment to being a trusted resource for her clients. She combines her rigorous training in ethics with a practical approach to problem-solving, ensuring that individuals and families receive thoughtful, reliable guidance during their most important life transitions.

Out of the office, Kayla enjoys being outdoors with her dog, Ripp, and spending time with her family and friends.
